Mom moment....

My Monday started off by putting it out to the world on Facebook
"Guess who's kids showed up at school thinking it was Pajama day...a day too early? CLASSIC! I just scarred them for life..."

The post came from a frantic phone call I got from a particular, all beit very distraught 7 year old who had showed up to school day for Red Ribbon Week thinking it was pajama day...and it wasnt. It was actually mis-matched shoe day.
So I get the call and Sofia is practically hysterical on the other line crying how it is the wrong day and she is in the office wanting to go home. Instead, I was able to double fist the phone lines and put Artyom in one ear, while talking to Sofia on my cell and arranging for REAL clothes and mis-matched shoes be brought to school for both her and Ella (not that Ella minded. She was just fine in her nightgown!) hehehe
Artyom said he got to the shool and Sofia had gone back to class wearing her COAT- even though it was so hot as she was just too embarassed...So sad.
Here is where I have to put in my two cents...I asked OVER. and OVER.and OVER again if she was CERTAIN that Monday was pajama day. She kept on saying yes. Well you can guess who's fault it ended up being when it was'nt...YEP. Yours truly.
SO.
Today was the last day of Red Ribbon week and saying NO to drugs. It was crazy hair day and thank goodness for Betsy and her creativity. The wrong day pajama day was corrected and she went to school with her crazy hair...happy.

HEHEHE. This pic STILL makes me giggle....

From dirty white to pretty ruby!

Photo

With Sofia making the decision of our Family's themed Halloween of Wizard of Oz (which I was really quite excited about- being the 75th anniversary!) We had her costume all done...except for the RUBY RED SLIPPERS!

I was going to just bag it and try to talk her out of it being a complete travesty that she would not be donning the Ruby Reds, but then I came up with this little diddy!

I just took some tacky glue, went over an old pair of shoes that she had that quite frankly, were headed for the D.I. bag anyway, and went to town! Glittered those babies up and VOILA!
Were going to glitterize the bottom as well since we had so much leftover and then, I think she will be complete!

Sigh....I love Halloweeen.

Face time

Its not that I dont like to carve up pumpkins and put them on our front porch for Halloween...I just HATE the guts that you have to carve out. GROSS!
So when Betsy sent me this pic of Sofia carving out her pumpkin..And I saw the look on her face? Well let's just say I was one proud Mama. She must take after me!

Favorite treat

It seems like the girls ask for hot chocolate when they feel a small breeze come through and open window...They LOVE it! They are definitely Fall kids- Sofia's birthday being in October, maybe its just a part of who she is?

Betsy made thier day yesterday as we had rain on and off and there was a definite CHILL in the air. They were treated to hot chocolate and cookies as the afternoon snack of the day. Happy kids=Happy Mama.

Happy Birthday Maka!

You turn SEVEN years old today and it is your GOLDEN BIRTHDAY- 7 on the 7th!
The day so far?
  • You woke up to decorations in the kitchen and balloons which your cute Dad picked up at the store LATE last night so you would be excited when you woke up this morning.
  • You were greeted with a white powder sugar donut cake with a candle and Ella and myself sang you your first Happy Birthday of the day...at 6:15 in the morning. You had actually woke up about an hour earlier asking me when  you could get up....Sigh.
  • You and I shared a special moment, just the two of us and you were able to open a present. The glitter art tattoo kit you saw on the TV ages ago. I was not surprised that you remembered it and exclaimed, "MOM! This was $19.95! Did you have to spend that much?!" Ahh little one. Of course not! Otherwise you would not have recieved it!
  • I went to eat lunch with you at school and brought along with me SEVEN Golden balloons and a Happy Birthday one. You made me feel like a celebrity introducing me to everyone you saw and you even started a sing-a-long at your table with all the other Spanish Immersion kids. It was hilarious. Only you could induce such a musical riot.
  • I have thought about you all day today, remembering what it was like 7 years ago when I had you so early in the morning-the day you made me a Mama for the first time. I love you so much Sofia Hope. You are indeed a blessing.
I'm lame and did'nt take any pics at your school, so pics will have to be posted tomorrow. Just know I love you and are SO proud to call you my daughter. Happy Birthday sweets.

When school starts up...

When school starts up the girls notice a few things:
  • They don't get pool time anymore all day, every day at Betsy's
  • The different themed days they have weekly are replaced with school recess and learing thier ABC's and 1,2,3's and in Sofia's case- her Espanol!
  • It gets dark ALOT earlier
  • Mom leaves for work when it is not yet morning....(I leave at 630AM)
  • No more naps! This is in some ways a good thing as they are excited about no naps (except for half school day Fridays!)
  • But no more naps means that they tend to hit a wall sometimes...

Being Friday night, she was able to stay up a bit past her bedtime and after brushing her teeth, Sofia could just NOT make it to her bed a mere few feet away and this is where she ended up. On the kitchen floor. You may notice her toothbrush a few inches away from her. hehehe.
School. It just takes it right outta ya!

Baby Shower and Birthday party- Back to Back

Saturday was a busy day for the Martushev's. Artyom has been on "Emergency Call" and his phone has been ringing NON-stop. So we knew he would not be around much during the day. The girls and I went out to my bestie's Jacki and Victoria (her baby in utero!) baby shower open house and gave her the biggest hair bows we could find (since Jacki hates them...HEHEHE!) But I also supplied her with some cutey patootey outfits as well. I ached to be in her position but am so excited for her to add a girl to her family.
Then it was off to the next party. It was our little friend Yulia's 5th birthday party and she had a Fancy Nancy themed party. It was so fun. I let the girls pick out what they wanted to wear and then we headed to the dollar store. We walked in and I led them to the toy aisle and just said-'GO ahead girls...ACCESSORIZE!" hehe. It was awesome. The girls had a GREAT time and its always fun seeing our friends the Brattos Family.
It was busy, busy, but we sure had a lot of fun.
All the Fancy Nancy girls!

Pricess Yulia blowing out her candles. Ella decided she needed to help.

What Fancy Nancy party would be complete without reading a Fancy Nancy book?!
